Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
We have a fantastic opportunity for an apprentice to join our team as a Teaching Assistant from January 2025! We are looking for somebody who is committed and enthusiastic with a passion for working with children. You must be able to work well as part of a team and be willing to be involved in the wider lifer of the school. To be successful in this role, you need to have high expectation of yourself and pupils and have the ability to take initiative and make decisions.
All of our staff are hardworking and passionate in relation to meeting the needs all of our pupil's and encouraging their academic, social and emotional development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working 1:1 or with small groups of pupils.
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
- Supporting the class teacher with whole class teaching and the preparation of resources
- Playground duties
- Maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our pupils
- Being committed to becoming involved with school life as a whole
- Welcome and settle the pupils into the classroom.
- Keep accurate records of pupil progress and report back to the class teacher.
- Preparing resources
- Listening to the children read
- Marking the children's work
- Cover playtime duty; Working as part of team
- Attending staff meetings and training as appropriate

Your training plan
Upon completion of this apprenticeship, you will gain a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. This Level 3 apprenticeship is expected to last a period of between 12 –18 months. You will attend live tutor led sessions 2 days every month (1 day every other week which will either be via ZOOM or in person depending on your location) and participate in online interactive learning via our bespoke innovative platform OLLIE. Your Tutor will also visit you in the workplace for 1-2-1 Tutor sessions during the program. The course content includes a range of topics which make up the variety of knowledge, skills and behaviours of what makes for a highly competent and professional TA. By acquiring these elements, you will graduate the apprenticeship a fully competent and well trained Teaching Assistant.
