We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate support staff member to join our school. The successful applicant will be expected to work across all age groups, providing essential support to students under the guidance of the class teacher.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Support to Pupils;
• Assist children in matters of personal needs and their additional needs including first aid and welfare
matters e.g. changing, feeding, using specialist equipment to support students
• Arrange medical/dental visits as appropriate.
• Supervise and support pupils ensuring their safety, by complying with good H&S practice.
• Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required.
• Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
Support to Teacher;
• Prepare classroom as directed for lessons, clear afterwards and assist with and maintain displays of pupils’ work, notice boards, shelving systems etc.
• Undertake routine administrative tasks, e.g. pupil
record keeping as requested.
• Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate.
• Appropriate liaison with parents on general pupil matters.
Support to Curriculum;
• Support pupils to understand instructions in relation to curriculum subject e.g. KS1 Literacy.
• Prepare and maintain general equipment/resources as directed by the teacher.
• Attend training sessions as required for CPD purposes and to ensure appropriate skill level is obtained to undertake role, e.g. behaviour management strategies.
Safeguarding;
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you are responsible for or come into contact with.

Your training plan
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
- Qualification: Level 3 Teaching Assistant (SEND) Apprenticeship Standard.
- Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths will be provided for those without GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) if required.
- All learning delivered online/ remotely alongside the role.
