Summary

We are offering a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship opportunity in our 3-19 specialist school. You will supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities, plus more.

NMW rate for an Apprentice £6.40 p/h during first year PLEASE NOTE ACTUAL annual/Pro rata salary is £10,144 pa due to being paid for 44.65 weeks of the year. NMW for remainder of apprenticeship

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of education healthcare plan outcomes, Support Plans, Individual Education Plans and Personal Care programmes
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
  • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
  • Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher

  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
