Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Assist with the implementation and delivery of planned learning activities
- Adjust and adapt activities according to pupils’ responses and needs
- Assist with pupils’ personal needs, hygiene, pastoral care, safeguarding and welfare
- Work with individuals or small groups of pupils under the supervision of teaching or specialist staff and provide feedback.
- To encourage the pupils to develop a positive self-image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others
- Assist with the reception and departure of children at the beginning and end of the school sessions

- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.
