Summary
As an apprentice you will be supported to increasingly develop your knowledge and understanding, skills and professional behaviours. You will learn both on and off-the-job to achieve a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification. Within in this apprenticeship you will be required to support children both within and outside of the classroom.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- You may take children in small groups or on a one to basis, this will be under the guidance and supported by the Class Teacher
- You will help the Teacher with the daily running of the classroom, providing assistance as needed
- You will be supporting children with their learning and personal and social needs

- Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
- Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
- Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
- Adapt resources to support all learners.
- Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
- Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
- Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
- Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
- Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
- Apply methods of formative assessment.
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
- Provide feedback to learners.

Your training plan
- At the end of this apprenticeship, you will achieve a professional Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
- Your training will be done online, this is a mixture of workshop-based activities with a tutor and independent learning and coursework
- This will take place one afternoon a week, this does have a degree of flexibility

Desirable qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- English (grade 4 or above)
- Maths (grade 4 or above)
