Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As a Marketing Apprentice your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage company communications, including publications, company website, and social network content; working closely with the Operations Manager to ensure that all communications are clear, consistent, legal, and do not compromise our commercial sensitivity
  • To demonstrate competent time management skills when organising workload
  • To make accurate amendments to existing artwork, within the timescale specified
  • Maintain and update the CRM database ensuring all customer information is current and accurate
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies in the media industry and identify opportunities for implementation
  • Working alongside the sales team to market products, services, and the company by developing and implementing marketing campaigns
  • Act as liaison between the company and relevant partners to manage and maintain relationships
  • Ensure work produced by partners is accurate and adheres to the company’s branding specifications
  • Coordinate all trade show activity, including advertising, promotion, etc., for all trade shows that we exhibit at
  • Attend trade shows to gain valuable experience and also maintain the company presence
  • Evaluate marketing campaigns and trade shows accordingly, providing reports to management, identifying successes and areas for improvement
  • Maintain an electronic and physical inventory of marketing materials
  • Support the company sales team; developing and distributing relevant marketing communications, collateral and campaigns, as required
  • Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, undertake PR activity for the company in line with company policy
  • Monitor competitor activity, using internal and internet sources to gather intelligence on competitors
  • Monitor relevant budgets by comparing and analysing actual results with plans and forecasts
  • Conduct market research, such as customer questionnaires and focus groups

General Duties:

  • Carries out ALL duties/responsibilities and authorities with strict adherence to the companies Quality Management System
  • Answers telephones, meets and greets visitors and contractors as appropriate
  • Maintains records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines
  • Attends and participates in internal meetings as appropriate
  • Communicates and coordinates with internal departments as appropriate
  • Has responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirements of the Health and Safety regulations
  • Contributes to the maintenance of good housekeeping regimes
  • Ensures confidentiality at all times
  • Undertakes continuous professional development (CPD) to maximise knowledge and understanding
  • Contributes ideas and suggestions to support the continued growth of the company
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

  • Develop or interpret briefs for external or internal stakeholders and measure delivery in-line with the specification and agreed timelines
  • Plan and coordinate a marketing activity using marketing tactics to acquire and retain one or more customer segments using available resources.
  • Contribute to the generation of innovative and creative approaches across video, images, and other formats, both online and offline, to support campaign development.
  • Use research/survey software to gather audience insight and/or evaluation to support the project.
  • Use copywriting techniques to write persuasive text/copy to meet a communications objective ensuring it is in-line with organisational brand guidelines.
  • Build and implement multi-channel campaigns across a variety of platforms, either offline or digital media.
  • Proofread marketing copy ensuring it is accurate, persuasive and is on brand.
  • Use software to design and create marketing assets to meet the technical specification.
  • Contribute to the research of external suppliers to support recommendations and procurement of marketing goods and services.
  • Organise offline and digital assets ensuring they are co-ordinated and legally compliant.
  • Use a website content management system to publish text, images, and video/animated content.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets to support marketing activities such as project/budget planning and organisation of marketing assets.
  • Use technology and software packages to support day to day activities, e.g., stakeholder communications, development of briefs, data analysis, report writing, presentations and project management.
  • Identify and use data and technologies to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Monitor and amend campaigns to meet budget requirements including time and monetary costs.
  • Review campaigns regularly to ensure effectiveness, to optimise the results.
  • Measure and evaluate campaign delivery to identify areas for improvement.
  • Use data analysis tools to record, interpret and analyse customer or campaign data.

Your training plan

This is a work-based learning programme which will require commitment to block weeks in an online training room once every quarter working towards the qualification along with weekly off the job training and monthly coaching sessions. You will be required to demonstrate through the standard that you meet all competencies and behaviours, which will lead to the achievement of the qualification.

You will have a designated mentor in the workplace to support your learning and at the end of the programme will be assessed via an external assessment body.

This is a Level 3 Multi Channel Marketer qualification.

GCSE or equivalent in:
