Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Assist with the completion of the company’s payroll routines and payroll cycles
- Assist with data entry for all new starters and leavers
- Assist with annual external audit
- Preparation of monthly schedules to assist the Financial Controller with month end reporting
- Code and enter invoices and expense reports into the accounting system accurately and in a timely manner
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies or issues in a timely manner
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper documentation and approval processes are followed
- Monthly accounts receivable run and assist with debt collection when required
- Weekly reconciliation of company prepaid debit cards
- Processing monthly and ad hoc expense runs
- Provide additional support and/or cover for other administrative and operational tasks within the Finance team subject to critical business need
- Post journals as required

Course contents
- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan
- The apprenticeship end qualification is Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3
- Apprenticeship training is to be delivered on-site at First Intuition's Manchester city-centre offices.
- If necessary you will be enrolled onto the AAT Level 2 Bookkeeping and then the full AAT Level 3 Accounting qualification
- You'll also attend a series of skills workshops to help you build the soft skills you need to build your career in finance
- You'll be supported through your programme by a dedicated Skills and Development Coach who is there to ensure you get everything you need to succeed in your apprenticeship
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- 5 GCSEs Maths and English Essential (grade Grade 5-9)
