Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the I.T. team may include any of the following items in the following list:
- Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of Co-Ordinator/Lead Receptionist/I.T line, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels
- Develop, manage, and maintain content on the practice’s website
- Ensure all information is up to date including service offerings, news, and patient resources
- Create engaging content for social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), responding to public and patient queries
Marketing and Campaigns:
- Plan, develop, and implement advertising campaigns to promote the practice's services and initiatives
- Manage promotional material, including flyers, brochures, and digital content, to raise awareness of the practice's offerings
- Analyse the performance of marketing campaigns, using insights to improve engagement
Public Relations:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local media and community organisations to promote the GP practice’s work
- Draft press releases, news updates, and public-facing announcements as needed
- Handle communication in case of emergencies, public health messages, or important changes within the practice
Customer Engagement:
- Manage patient feedback through surveys and social media, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and addressing concerns promptly
- Develop strategies to increase patient engagement, including outreach programs and public events
- Organise and promote community health initiatives or information sessions
Engagement Acquisition:
- Develop and execute strategies to attract new patients to the practice
- Monitor patient demographics and ensure that engagement strategies align with the community's needs
- Collaborate with local businesses, schools, and organisations to create partnerships and community involvement
Assistance in Preparing Promotional Materials:
- Work with internal teams to create informative and engaging materials for patients (e.g., newsletters, health guides, and informative posters)
- Ensure all materials align with the practice’s branding and professional standards
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in marketing, communications, or digital media.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and website management (experience with CMS platforms such as WordPress is desirable)
- Excellent writing and content creation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with diverse audiences, including patients and the wider public
- Knowledge of healthcare systems or experience in a healthcare setting is a plus but not required

- Plan and coordinate a marketing activity using marketing tactics to acquire and retain one or more customer segments using available resources.
- Contribute to the generation of innovative and creative approaches across video, images, and other formats, both online and offline, to support campaign development.
- Use research/survey software to gather audience insight and/or evaluation to support the project.
- Use copywriting techniques to write persuasive text/copy to meet a communications objective ensuring it is in-line with organisational brand guidelines.
- Build and implement multi-channel campaigns across a variety of platforms, either offline or digital media.
- Proofread marketing copy ensuring it is accurate, persuasive and is on brand.
- Use software to design and create marketing assets to meet the technical specification.
- Contribute to the research of external suppliers to support recommendations and procurement of marketing goods and services.
- Organise offline and digital assets ensuring they are co-ordinated and legally compliant.
- Use a website content management system to publish text, images, and video/animated content.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets to support marketing activities such as project/budget planning and organisation of marketing assets.
- Use technology and software packages to support day to day activities, e.g., stakeholder communications, development of briefs, data analysis, report writing, presentations and project management.
- Identify and use data and technologies to achieve marketing objectives.
- Monitor and amend campaigns to meet budget requirements including time and monetary costs.
- Review campaigns regularly to ensure effectiveness, to optimise the results.
- Measure and evaluate campaign delivery to identify areas for improvement.
- Use data analysis tools to record, interpret and analyse customer or campaign data.
