What you’ll do at work

Join our team as an Apprentice Maintenance Mechanical Fitter and be part of an exciting period of growth within our safety-critical environment. You will play a vital role in maintaining and ensuring the smooth operation of our plant systems, components, and assets. Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll rotate through different teams, each focused on specific aspects of plant maintenance and repair, working with a wide range of mechanical and specialist equipment. This will give you the opportunity to develop a broad skill set, from servicing and maintaining mechanical and non-mechanical plant equipment to supporting production teams in enhancing operational efficiency.

In this role, you’ll be involved in the regular maintenance of compressors, workshop machinery, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. You’ll learn how to install and repair components like bearings, seals, and drive keys, as well as maintain CNC machine tools used in both heavy and light engineering. Your training will also cover the safe operation of cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment, along with testing and repairing specialised tools such as compressed air and breathing air equipment, rotating tools, and burning/pre-heating torches.

Your work will include tasks like pipe bending, soldering, welding, and machining skills such as turning, drilling, and using a band saw. You’ll be trained to follow Health & Safety best practices, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and to the highest standards. In addition, you’ll gain experience on the effective operation of compressors, as well as testing and maintaining air handling units and other specialised equipment. It's a fantastic time to join us with incredible opportunities ahead and this apprenticeship is perfect for those beginning their careers or considering a career change.
