Summary

We are a small but fast-growing business looking to expand the finance team in line with the company’s overall expansion. The successful candidate will be part of a fun and fast paced environment. This will provide the opportunity to develop all round commercial business skills alongside the core accounting skills required for the role.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Processing purchase invoices, with high attention to detail, which will include different currencies and high volume.
  • Raising sales invoices, reconciling customer deposits, and assisting Tour leaders with credit control.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Expense claim processing and credit card reconciliation.
  • Assisting the Financial Controller with month end reporting, tour costs analysis and any other adhoc requirements.
  • Providing support to other areas of the business in an admin capacity if required (e.g., HR, Compliance).
  • Proactively seeking to improve processes and working practices to drive efficiencies across the team and wider business to help drive the finance function forward.

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Your training plan

    • The apprentice will gain an AAT level 3 qualification, studying with First Intuition.

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • English (grade 5 or above (C or above))
    • Maths (grade 5 or above (C or above))

    Desirable qualifications

    Other in:

    • AAT Level 2 (grade Pass)
