Summary
We wish to train a student from scratch in all aspects of the kitchen. We are a business that makes everything from raw ingredients, from ice creams, dressings to curing proteins, stocks. We are looking for someone to want to learn and make a difference.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients such as chopping vegetables, portioning meat, and measuring ingredients according to recipes
- Basic Cooking: Support chefs by learning and performing basic cooking techniques like boiling, grilling, and sautéing under supervision
- Working with meats and fish
- Baking
- Kitchen Maintenance: Keep the kitchen clean and organised, including washing utensils, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste
- Stock Management: Assist with checking, organizing, and storing food supplies to ensure freshness and maintain proper stock levels
- Learning & Development: Continuously develop cooking skills by observing senior chefs and receiving guidance, contributing to your culinary growth

You will be working towards gaining the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to achieve the Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship Standard:
- You will be required to attend one day's day release a week on campus at London Road for taught input and the remainder of your working week will be in the workplace

About this company
We are a flexible business – 7 en suite bedrooms, 42 cover restaurant with The Village Kitchen operating in the day and restaurant currently open Wed through Saturday evening.
