Job Description: Room leader.
Purpose of post: The room leader is a qualified childcare professional with the responsibility for the day to day running of their room. They perform an important role caring for children, maintaining a high quality, educational stimulating environment, supervising staff, and imparting their knowledge and skills to others. They are creative and reflective leaders able to implement new ideas and use a range of strategies to continually improve practice and support the management team.
Responsible to: Nursery Owner, Nursery Manager.
Responsible for: Team members within the room and supporting the whole staff team alongside the manager.

Demonstrate the importance of the home learning environment, developing an effective and collaborative partnership to enhance opportunities for the child.
Make use of formative and summative assessment, tracking children’s progress to plan for future learning possibilities including early interventions based on individual developmental needs.
Take responsibility for supporting the key person in articulating children's progress and planning future learning possibilities.

Your training plan
The successful candidate will complete a level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner qualification.
Training will be delivered on a hybrid model with online sessions, face to face visits.

Key Tasks and responsibilities: Unit Lead
• To manage the team expressing what is expected of them daily.
• Working as part of a team and using your initiative and imagination to generate new ideas
• Using your excellent communication skills to build strong relationships with parents, children and welcome visitors to the Nursery
• Planning, implementing and evaluating a curriculum appropriate to age and individual needs of the children ensuring the room layout supports these aims
• provision to have a clear understanding of each child’s key strengths and areas for development
• To ensure the smooth running of the room throughout each day, in accordance with their routines.
• To support and cover staff to make sure all paperwork, observations, Blossom and art books are up to date
• To ensure each room is safe for the children to explore, ensuring that the 7 areas of learning are covered, and resources changed regularly, alongside display boards
• To ensure any room check feedback is carried out efficiently.
• To liaise with the manager daily giving feedback
• To check the observations and assessments that are being carried out on children are effective and covering their individual needs.
• To oversee all EYFS planning and paperwork making sure that it is all completed daily/weekly/termly
• Tracking the children’s development at the end of each term. Identifying any gaps in development
• To observe staff whilst carrying out the role as a child career and give any positive/negative feedback
• To work in partnership with all parents, ensuring we have evidence of this in conjunction with the EYFS
• To carry out staff training when needed
• To help create a positive and safe environment for the children to flourish and explore
• To help maintain excellent teamwork sharing thoughts feelings and ideas
• To ensure that safeguarding requirements are met at all times and ensuring that all individual needs of the children are being met
• To help maintain good partnership with parents ensuring all their views are taking into consideration throughout the nursery.
• Attend nursery management meetings if needed and feed any information back to your team
• Implement and carry out the Early years Foundation Stage, introducing topics and activities based on the individual children’s needs and interests. Working in conjunction with other staff members
• Support all team members to conduct and end of nursery review (unique summary/transition sheet) of each key child to send/take to school to allow the new
• Undertake appropriate supervision meetings/processes for all members in your team in conjunction with the nursery management approach
