Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

As a Sales/Account Manager Management Apprentice, you’ll learn to deeply understand your customers’ unique challenges and aspirations, navigate complex sales cycles and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes, craft innovative value-added propositions that address customers evolving needs, and develop long-term consultative partnerships that foster loyalty and growth.

A day in the life can involve:

  • Identifying and reaching out to potential business clients 
  • Conducting in-depth client assessments and crafting tailored sales proposals
  • Collaborating with clients to understand their unique business needs - Orchestrating solutions that meet client objectives
  • Providing expert guidance and support to clients throughout the sales process
  • Maintaining meticulous records of client interactions and sales data
  • Analysing sales data to identify key trends and opportunities for optimisation

We are seeking curious, adaptable individuals with an innate ability to build strong relationships. As a Sales/Account Manager apprentice, you’ll need to develop trust-based, consultative partnerships with customers, be collaborative to work cross-functionally and identify innovative solutions. Cultivating a robust commercial acumen will also be crucial - you’ll need to deeply understand customer KPIs and commercial drivers, showcasing an entrepreneurial mindset to identify new growth opportunities.

Adaptability is key, as you’ll navigate complex, changing customer needs and buying processes.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are paramount, enabling you to engage customers at all levels with confidence and clarity. Resilience and tenacity to navigate setbacks and drive successful outcomes will help you strive.

You will gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills whilst working towards the BSc (Hons) degree in Business-to-Business Sales.

As a working student your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off the job time by learning and developing your skills, knowledge and behaviours to work towards successful graduation. You will be set objectives and goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies.

You will build your skills over a 42-month period, starting in September. These skills will help you develop personally and professionally.

Your apprenticeship will be made up of classroom/virtual based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training at your Amazon base location, online learning as well as mentoring from our experienced team members.

  • Working with others: Influential, able to conduct stakeholder analysis and develop strong relationships at all levels, internally and externally, to build trust. Interacts professionally and ethically maintaining a positive and flexible attitude. Demonstrates emotional intelligence.
  • Consultative Selling: Works with customers to identify new business and market challenges, utilising insights and good questioning and listening techniques. Identifies strategic & innovative solutions integrating products and excellent service solutions, to meet customer needs.
  • Pitching: Leads a confident, clear and compelling sales pitch in front of a customer, which builds rapport, establishes credibility and delivers commercial benefit. Handles questions, objections and demonstrates the value of the proposal in a clear, quantifiable way.
  • Negotiation and Closing: Applies the principles of negotiation, develops strategies and tactics to a mutually agreeable outcome, ensuring both customer and supplier leave committed to the outcome.
  • Psychology of Sales: Critically reflects on the different psychological needs of customers and other key stakeholders in the buying/selling process. Takes into account strategic and organisational context when adapting their sales approaches, by using the psychological models pertinent to developing positive and ethical buyer and seller relationships.
  • Leveraging Digital Business: Adopts different approaches to social selling & digital technologies which aid the sales process. Develops a digital selling strategy that leverages social selling to support lead generation, nurturing and customer engagement. Develops digital networks and drives insight-led engagements. Measures results and return on investment.

    • As well as learning key skills, you will be working towards the BSc (Hons) degree in Business-to-Business Sales
    • Training will be delivered in a mix of remote and face-to-face sessions
    • Each week Apprentices will be allocated time away from their day to day roles to work on their Apprenticeship studies
    • You will spend approximately 80% of your working week learning from skilled members of the team whilst supporting learning on the job
    • The apprenticeship will run for 42 months, at the end of which you will be eligible to apply for higher roles in relevant teams within Amazon or anywhere in the industry
    • This is the ideal opportunity to get valuable work-experience at Amazon, as well as gaining a relevant qualification funded by Amazon
    • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • x5 including Maths and English (grade 4-9 (A-C) or above)
    • x 3 or equivalent qualification (grade C grade (grade 4) or above)

    This position will be based in a Corporate Office. We advise you to submit your application as soon as possible, as the roles will close once filled. We will be holding online assessments from November through to February, with assessment centres taking place between February and May.
