Summary

Following on from our past successes with our apprenticeship intake we now have 2 Teaching Assistant posts available to join our team to support our pupils to reach their full potential and we are looking forward to developing apprentices in this role

£12,313.60 a year

The initial hourly rate will be £6.40 per hour but this may increase after 12 months in line with National Minimum Wage Pay rates and school pay grades

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised person, who understands the vital contribution that teaching assistants make to the quality of education and wellbeing of our children. Daily activities will involve:

  • Working in partnership with our team to support children's needs
  • Supporting the teacher in delivering lessons and working with identified groups or individuals
  • Offer flexibility to work with children in the class, small group work and with invididuals
  • Promote reinforcing children's self-esteem and wellbeing
  • Carry out pre-determined educational activities and work programmes
  • Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of pupils
  • Prepare learning resources
  • Engage with parents

We're looking for someone who has a positive outlook, a good sense of humour and who is organised and patient. Using initiative is always encouraged too.

Course contents
  • Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners.
  • Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy.
  • Adapt resources to support all learners.
  • Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role.
  • Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions.
  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.
  • Your training plan

    You will get training from our own staff as well as from the apprenticeship provider. All training will take place at the school and some tutorials will be remote and virtual. We will ensure you get protected time to study and receive plenty of feedback on your work and studies. You will have one to one coaching every 3-4 weeks from the training provider. At the end of the apprenticeship you will achieve the level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship qualification.

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English (grade 4-9 (A*-C))
    • Maths (grade 4-9 (A*-C))
