Summary
We are looking for people to join our Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship positions. In these roles, you will have the opportunity to work with important teams at the GMC. Working with our apprenticeship provider to complete your apprenticeship in a 15-month period.

Monday – Friday between the hours of 08:30 – 17:30 in most of our apprenticeships, but hours will vary depending on the role. For roles within our Clinical Assessment Centre, your rota will include some Saturday working, with a lieu day provided.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
There are positions available in different departments, please see below.
Registration and Revalidation Apprentice:
- The Registration and Revalidation Apprentice provides administrative support to the Voluntary Erasure, Restoration and Licensing (VERL) team. They will be responsible for providing high quality administrative support to the team and for processing applications in line with GMC procedures.
- The VERL team process applications from doctors to change their status on the register. This includes voluntary erasure, applications for licences and restoration to the register. The team also process GP and specialist registration in cases of late entry. The team deal with all the technical aspects of applications and process these according to the GMC’s guidelines and legislation.
Administrative Assistant Apprentice
- The Administrative Assistant Apprentice provides administrative and hearing support to the Operations and Development Section at the MPTS. The MPTS run hearings for when there are serious concerns about doctors. Hearing and office-based support is arranged on a rota basis but primarily the role will be hearing based with occasional time spent supporting the wider office administration. We hold hearing virtually and in person at our Manchester hearing centre.
- Time supporting hearings will involve many parts, including setting up hearing links or hearing rooms in advance. Welcoming parties to the hearing environment and making sure they have the equipment and access to systems and documents that they need.
- Office based administrative support will involve preparing of documents from templates and guidance, updating systems when information is received and responding to telephone and email queries.
Clinical Assessment Centre Apprentice
The CAC Apprenticeship is an opportunity to work in a unique, fast paced, and diverse environment supporting the delivery of events in our Clinical Assessment Centre (CAC) in Manchester.
- The Clinical Assessment Centre (CAC) Apprenticeship is an opportunity to work in a unique, fast paced, and diverse environment supporting the delivery of events in our CAC in Manchester.
- In this office-based role you’ll support the work of a large team hosting events.
- You’ll manage the CAC reception on event days and carry out essential administrative work required within the CAC.
- You’ll gain valuable experience in customer service - assisting a wide variety of visitors, including GMC Associates, exam candidates and medical role-players.
- You’ll experience working under pressure to complete administrative tasks, with an opportunity to also develop key skills in organisation, communication, and time management.

GCSE or equivalent in:
- 5 GCSE's including English and Maths (grade (A*-C/9-4 or equivalent))
