Summary

Working for the SES London you will be responsible for assisting in preparing cost estimates and cost planning, for the purpose of work-winning in the pre-construction function. You will understand our customer drivers and demonstrate excellent customer service skills and communication skills.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Our estimators in SES are responsible for compiling estimates 
  • Estimates will involve how much it will cost to provide a client or potential client with products or services
  • Estimators provide prices for everything from a one-off scheme to maintenance projects which will be completed over several years

Course contents
  • Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
  • Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
  • Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
  • Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
  • Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
  • Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
  • Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
  • Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

    HNC Quantity Surveying through Accxel Ltd on a block release face to face basis. 

    Requirements

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • Maths & English (grade 4/C and above)
    • 2 A Level or equivalent (grade DD)
