Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to gain many skills in a very busy production environment. With state-of-the-art machinery, the largest injection moulding machine in the UK and Kuka six axis robots, this is a chance to join a progressive and rapidly expanding manufacturing organisation in Telford.

Hours
To start with, the hours will be Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 5:00pm and Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm. As the apprenticeship progresses the hours will involve working 12 hour shifts, including nights, evenings and weekends.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Assist in setting up the injection moulding machines to the optimum conditions to achieve quality components.
  • To assist in executing tool changes in line with production planning.
  • To assist in setting up printers to achieve the required quality and consistency of hot foil stamping.
  • To conduct and record material melt flow parameters.
  • To assist in the implementation and running of automated moulding lines with 6 axis robotics.
  • To work alongside senior operators in ensuring all the shift requirements are met, cover for staff   during breaks and maintaining a 5S culture.

Course contents
  • Both independently and within a team start-up a manufacturing batch or continuous process in line with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures, understanding the principles of operation.
  • Both independently and within a team operate a manufacturing batch or continuous process in line with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures, understanding the principles of operation.
  • Both independently and within a team shut down/complete a run of the manufacturing batch or continuous process in line with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures, understanding the principles of operation.
  • Work safely in a science manufacturing environment, understanding personal responsibility for Health, Safety and the Environment and principles of risk management
  • Control and monitor a process or plant and equipment, effectively, efficiently and securely, and resolve problems or correct abnormal conditions.
  • Complete documentation relevant to the manufacturing process including relevant calculations.
  • Participate in continuous performance improvement.
  • Your training plan

    As part of the apprenticeship the candidate will be working towards a workplace training plan within our organisation as well as working towards the apprenticeship framework components with Wolverhampton College. Over the course of a 3-year period the candidate will achieve the following qualification:

    • Science Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Level 3

    As part of Craemer’s workplace training plan, you may be asked to attend the apprentice training centre at our headquarters in Germany.

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English (grade 1-9)
    • Mathematics (grade 1-9)
