After the 1st year the apprentice will have the opportunity to earn commission on services and retail sales. Staff incentives and rewards given where exceptional commitment and progress is made.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Training towards Beauty Therapy L2, assisting their team offering services to clients and supporting the upkeep of the salon.  

Customer service is trained to high standards to give experience to our clients. Training will form a large part of the apprentices week with both practical, theoretical and web-based training. You will learn skills required to support your own salon social media pages in order to create your own guest list.

In your day-to-day tasks you may:

  • Give a facial by cleansing, massaging and toning a client's skin
    do a makeover by applying and advising on make-up
  • Shape eyebrows and colour eyelashes
  • Give a manicure, pedicure or other nail treatment like extensions and nail art
  • Remove unwanted facial and body hair
  • Do non-surgical skin improvement treatments

  • Safe working Practices: Meet legal, industry and organisational requirements: maintain effective, hygienic and safe working methods; meet health and safety considerations; adhere to workplace, suppliers’ or manufacturers’ instructions for the safe use of equipment, materials and products; maintain the client’s modesty, privacy and comfort; minimise risks of cross-infection, injury or fatigue; promote environmental and sustainable working practices; ensure personal hygiene and protection meets industry, organisational and local authority requirements; correctly use, store and dispose of personal protective equipment
  • Provide waxing services: Consult, plan, prepare and perform waxing services to remove unwanted hair on clients from the legs, underarms, face and bikini line
  • Provide hand and nail treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform hand and nail treatments on clients
  • Provide foot treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform foot and nail treatments on clients
  • Provide facial treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform facial skin care treatments, use facial products and equipment, and improve and maintain skin condition on clients
  • Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform enhancements to the appearance of the eyebrows and lashes on clients
  • Provide make-up application: Consult, plan, prepare and perform make-up services on clients
  • Provide basic massage treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform manual back, neck and shoulder massage treatments on clients
  • Your training plan

    • Level 2 Beauty Thearpies, additional industry beauty specialist training, social media, brand-led training to support product and equipment use
    • Training will be supported and available according to ability
    • Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Professionals
    • Functional Skills (if required)

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • Science (grade * GCSE or equivalent Science 5)

    Desirable qualifications

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • English (grade * GCSE or equivalent English 5)
    • Maths (grade * GCSE or equivalent Maths 5)

    You will be client facing in a service industry. Communication is a major part of our service provision. Being a team player is a huge advantage alongside general common sense and initiative. The apprenticeship is very physical therefore self care is essential in order to maintain stamina and general health.
