Summary

In this apprenticeship, you will develop your key communication skills, provide first class pastoral support to our apprentices and refine your approach to monitoring and mentorship. You will be learning a wide range of duties including; conducting training reviews, working with curriculum areas to provide excellent training opportunities and more.

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

Job Purpose

New College Swindon has a thriving and substantial apprenticeship provision for around 1,000 apprentices across 28 apprenticeship Standard areas.

  • Working with an Apprenticeship team this role will provide an effective and successful key account management service to support the College’s Apprenticeship provision.
  • The role is the first point of contact for employers and those interested in undertaking an apprenticeship programme, and will provide an effective customer service to meet the needs of these key College customers.
  • Responsible for a caseload of employers and learners in specific sectors, the role will be focused on ensuring effective recruitment, enrolment, on programme experience and successful completion.
  • Working effectively with curriculum delivery staff this post will ensure that all programme elements, including funding, audit and Ofsted requirements, are adhered to, and apprenticeship achievement and funding targets are fully met.

Course contents
  • Conduct sustainable mentoring practice within organisational and professional boundaries, and legal and ethical requirements, including safeguarding
  • Establish and maintain mentoring contracts with mentees and where relevant, other stakeholders
  • Conduct mentoring sessions according to agreed plans
  • Implement established mentoring tools and techniques to help the mentee work towards agreed outcomes
  • Maintain records of mentoring practice, complying with quality, confidentiality and data protection requirements
  • Establish and use assessed starting points to establish agreed outcomes of the mentoring process
  • Assess and review progress and achievement of agreed outcomes and revise action plans as appropriate
  • Maintain mentoring relationship through a non-judgemental and objective approach
  • Use questioning techniques to encourage reflection and progression
  • Provide feedback to the mentee to inform progression
  • Inform, advise and guide the mentee to support development toward agreed outcomes
  • Apply theories and models of evaluation and reflection to support mentee development
  • Monitor and reflect on own mentoring practice, including feedback from supervision, to develop self
  • Apply evidence based mentoring practice informed by own research

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • ICT (grade Level 2 pass, 4/C)
    • Maths and English (grade 4/C and above)
