Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
So, what will your day to day look like?
- Planning and delivering activities with children aged 0-8
- Carrying out care needs to children which may include teeth, skin, hair, feeding and toileting under supervision
- Supporting children with their general development including/interacting with other children
- Communicating with parents and carers of their child’s daily/weekly progress
- Supervising children to ensure you are managing/ avoiding any risks

Course contents
Your training plan
You will be working towards your Early Years/Childcare Level 3 qualification (an industry recognised Qualification) which is delivered via monthly 2–3-hour lessons with your assigned Trainer Assessor (TA) via teams. Throughout the month, you will complete self-led study which will include assignments, worksheets, projects, etc. and blended learning and development activities/training with your manager and shadowing team members. All learning will be completed in your workplace and during your working hours. Units that you will be studying include continued professional development, speech & language, equality & diversity, partnership working, planning & implementing activities for children, learning development, observations, & theories, safeguarding, supporting positive behaviour, health, safety, & welfare, and transitions.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English, Maths (grade 4)
- Childcare (grade pass)
