Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
During your time as an Early Years Apprentice, you will support development of children within their room through assessing children’s development, setting up provision and interacting with children whilst supporting parents. Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Assist in delivering tailored care and educational programmes for EYFS pupils and mealtimes, etc.
- Supervise and provide particular support for pupils with SEND, Pupil Premium and the more able.
- Provide feedback to teachers, parents and the SEND team on individual children and their progress.
- Supporting children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities on a 1:1 basis, small groups or through targeted activities and interventions.
- Provide feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, next steps, etc.
- Support the planning and implementation of our school’s Early Years curriculum, which embeds our pupils’ abilities, needs and interests.
- Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their behaviour.
- Observe, assess and track the children’s progress and next steps using observations and formative assessments in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Offer constructive feedback to both pupils and teachers, helping to monitor progress and foster achievement.
- Facilitate learning by preparing and leading activities, play opportunities and experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage and ensuring pupils can access learning opportunities.
- Where appropriate, to provide pastoral, first-aid, restorative conversations or other support to children.
- Support the children with their physical care routines, such as changing nappies, toilet training
