LED Electrical in Nelson are recruiting for an Apprentice Supply Chain Warehouse Operative. The successful candidate will work towards completing a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative apprenticeship over the duration of 15 months.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Preparing and picking orders for delivery or collection both accurately and timely
  • Goods receiving warehouse products and physically re-stocking items
  • Performing warehouse inventory audits when requested
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment in the warehouse in line with our Health & Safety standards
  • Update the procurement team on low running stock or incorrect stock
  • Operate the warehouse machinery safely and in line with our Health & Safety standards
  • Be available to take courses that allow you to safely operate fork lift trucks and other lifting machinery if required

  • Conduct risk assessments within the working environment.

  • Receive products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
  • Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
  • Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

    About this company

    The LED Electrical Nelson branch is the head office of the company, housing the accounts department, operations and supply chain department, marketing department and Human Resources. It is the distribution hub of the group, ideally situated just off Junction 12 of the M65 serving the whole of the northwest and beyond with daily deliveries from our transport fleet. Our specialist solar and battery storage division is based here with dedicated staff members available to deal with enquiries where we can help with anything from design to payback reports. Our in-house lighting designer is also based at Nelson HQ where we produce lighting designs, specifications and schematics for many customers daily. Carrying thousands of lines of stock in our 10,000-square-foot warehouse, LED Nelson has a bustling trade counter and busy sales office, which is managed by friendly, knowledgeable staff.
