As a member of the Front of House team, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming, enjoyable experience for our patrons while demonstrating excellent knowledge of all common areas in a café premises. Employees retain all tips received, as required under Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023. The company may at times offer discretionary bonus incentives which are applicable to all employees.

Weekends and public holidays are considered ordinary working days.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Preparation and serving of hot and cold drinks
- Preparation and serving of food items, such as sandwiches, salads and hot food
- Engaging with customers, upholding high standards of customer service
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area
An average day or week working at Old London Road Café as a Front of House Apprentice would involve a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring an enjoyable experience for customers. You would usually be preparing and serving food and beverages, including coffee and light meals like sandwiches and paninis. Engaging with customers, maintaining a friendly atmosphere, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness would be central to your role. You will also be expected to handle payments, restock supplies, and enforce age verification policies when serving alcohol. Training would be part of your development, focusing on improving customer service and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations.

- Fire Safety Awareness (Non-accredited, IH.Solutions, Physical) – completed within first month
- Certificate in ACT (Action Counters Terrorism) Awareness (Accredited, NaCTSO, Remote) – completed within first three months
- Certificate in Welfare & Vulnerability Engagement/Ask for Angela (Accredited, NTSE, Remote) – completed within first three months
