Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Perform advanced carpentry tasks, including cutting, shaping, and fitting timber components to construct frameworks, roofs, floors, staircases, and other structures
- Use a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and machinery to carry out precise carpentry and joinery tasks
- Manufacture, assemble, and install complex wooden fixtures and fittings, such as doors, windows, cabinets, and decorative moldings
- Read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure work meets design requirements and building regulations
- Work closely with architects, designers, and other trades to ensure accurate construction and joinery work
- Identify and resolve issues that arise during the installation or construction process, making technical adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy
- Inspect and test the accuracy of installations and finished joinery to ensure compliance with project specifications
- Help plan and coordinate carpentry and joinery tasks within the broader context of construction schedules, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality
- Select and prepare materials for carpentry and joinery tasks, ensuring the correct grades, sizes, and types of timber or other materials are used

About this company
Breck Homes specialises in sourcing and purchasing a diverse range of development sites, be it brown or greenfield. We have the expertise and experience to develop the land in a cost-efficient way. We source development sites ranging from 20 to 250 homes. The Level 3 Advanced Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice will develop specialist skills in both site carpentry and architectural joinery, while working on a variety of new build construction projects. This apprenticeship is designed for individuals who already have a basic understanding of carpentry and joinery, building on this knowledge to advance their technical skills. The apprentice will work under the guidance of experienced professionals and will complete formal training to achieve the Level 3 qualification in Advanced Carpentry and Joinery.
After this apprenticeship
After completing the Level 3 Advanced Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship, successful candidates can pursue roles such as Site Carpenter, Joiner, or move into supervisory or management positions within construction or joinery businesses. Further training opportunities include qualifications in construction site management or specialised joinery.
