Summary

A unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a diverse skill set: rotating through each of our four key departments: Starch Room, Kitchen, Machines, and Dipping. Under the guidance of an experienced supervisor, you will learn the intricate processes involved in chocolate production and contribute to our day-to-day operations.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Starch Room:

  • Learn and assist in the starch moulding process for chocolate products
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of starch moulds
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the starch room

Kitchen:

  • Support the preparation and cooking of chocolate mixtures
  • Follow recipes and production schedules accurately
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and safety in the kitchen 

Machines:

  • Operate and maintain chocolate processing machinery
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor technical issues
  • Monitor machine performance to ensure efficient production 

Dipping:

  • Master the art of hand-dipping chocolates
  • Ensure each product meets our quality and presentation standards
  • Work with a keen eye for detail and precision

  • Follow food and drink production SOPs.
  • Apply product quality assurance SOPs.
  • Scan control, monitor and rotate stock.
  • Check and use tools and operate equipment and machinery.
  • Clean tools, equipment or lines.
  • Comply with food safety regulations and procedures.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Comply with environmental and sustainability regulations and procedures. Identify and segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Identify and resolve issues. Report issues.
  • Apply basic continuous improvement techniques.
  • Apply fault-finding and problem-solving techniques to common problems.
  • Collect and interpret information – text and data.
  • Record information - paper based or electronic.
  • Use information technology.
  • Follow work instructions - verbal or written.
  • Communicate with colleagues - verbal and non-verbal.

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • Maths and English (grade 4)
