Summary

AGL Training Ltd are looking to recruit a Manufacturing Apprentice– Transformer Assembler on behalf of our client based in Stoke-on-Trent. For over 35 years they have been designing and manufacturing single and three phase transformer products for customers all over the world for companies such as Mitsubishi, Siemens and Toyota.

Monday to Thursday: 7.00am to 4.00pm 2 x 15 minute breaks and 1 x 30 minute lunch break. Friday: 7.00am to 1.00pm 1 x 30 minute break.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

• Read and interpret work orders to determine materials needed and  assembly instructions
• Position, align, or adjust workpieces or electrical parts to facilitate wiring or assembly
• Mark and tag components so that stock inventory can be tracked and identified
• Adjust, repair, or replace electrical parts to correct defects and ensure conformance
• Confer with supervisors to plan or review work activities or to resolve production problems

  • Drill or tap holes in specified equipment locations to mount control units or to provide openings for elements, wiring or instruments
  • Frbricate or form parts, coils, or structires using drills, calipers, cutters or saws
  • Paint structures as specified, using paint sprayers
  • Assemble elecrical systems or support structures and install components, subassemblies, wiring or assembly casings using rivets, bolts, soldering or micro-welding equipment

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

  • Full training will be given in order to achieve the L2 Lean Maunufacturing Apprenticeship Standard
  • Training will take place on and off-the-job
  • Off-the-job training will be during normal working hours
  • Functional skill maths and/English if not already achieved at GCSE grade 4/C or above
