Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • MT940 for common account and LSV – import into system, match to transactions.
  • Other account receipted on to system manually (St Vincents not loaded).
  • AMS bank reconciliations (270+), Mayfair bank recs x2,
  • Save down all reports once reconciled.
  • Query with team any receipts not recognised.
  • Check with credit controller to see if she recognises payments. If not… Liaise with tenants for remittance advices.
  • Alias forms – complete and issue to tenants, chase them up etc.
  • Save down daily bank balances and check against system to ensure all balances correct, if not, investigate why.
  • Unposted cash report – complete every day and chase up
  • IATs (Inter Account Transfers) – in system and on Excel Load payments on to bank.
  • Save copies of payments.
  • Monitor AR Mailbox on daily basis.
  • AMS deposits – creating accounts on BMAP, closing accounts on BMAP etc.
  • Reverse Journals.
  • Take credit card payments on worldpay.

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

    • As an Accountancy Apprentice with BPP, you will complete the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship at Level 3. Within the apprenticeship you will undertake the full AAT Level 3 qualification
    • The apprenticeship will be completed at a BPP centre or via the Online Classroom platform, in addition to at the workplace

    Essential qualifications

    Other in:

    • 5 GCSE's including English and Maths (grade (A-C/9-4 or equivalent))
