Summary

This role is working with customers to take orders for breakfasts and lunches mainly. Serving customers who are looking to buy from the shop, using the till. Meeting and greeting customers and giving the customer a good experience overall.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • This role will be taking orders from customers for breakfast, lunch and generally through the day.
  • Dealing with orders, giving advice about the general products in the shop.
  • Meeting and greeting customers.
  • Giving advice on the shop products and understanding about up-selling products.
  • Using the till and money transactions.
  • Telephone enquiries and some social media awareness for the shop.
  • Upholding policies and procedures for the shop.

  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.

    Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)

    This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of Work Based Assessment and day/block release.  The programme will culminate in an End Point Assessment, where all the skills and knowledge gained on the apprenticeship will be formally tested.

    GCSE or equivalent in:

    • Maths and English (grade 4/C or above)
