Summary
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, patient registration, booking appointments and processing of information (electronic and hard copy).

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
- Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Process and action incoming and outgoing mail
- Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Process calling letters are requested
- Process all DNA letters in accordance with current policy
- Action GP2GP tasks and file and store records as required
- Read code data on EMIS web
- Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
- Input data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient’s healthcare records
- Manage all queries (including administrative queries) as necessary in an efficient manner
- Carry out system searches as requested
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Support all other team members with ad hoc tasks as and when required

Attend Access Training located on the Team Valley, on a monthly basis.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)

Other requirements
This is a patient facing role where you will be in contact with patients both face to face and on the telephone. This position is 4 days per week on a rota basis so these days may change based on the requirements of the practice. You will be required to attend monthly sessions with Access Training at Team Valley.
