Summary
This apprenticeship is designed to give a hands-on experience in designing, maintaining, and optimising IT infrastructure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Infrastructure Maintenance: Support senior engineers in managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage systems, and data centres
- Monitor Systems: Regularly monitor performance, availability, and security of networks, servers, and other critical infrastructure components
- Documentation: Help create and maintain accurate documentation of IT infrastructure, configurations, and changes made during operations
- First-Line Support: Provide first-line technical support to internal teams, helping with issues related to connectivity, hardware, and software
- Learn and Apply Best Practices: Understand and follow industry best practices for managing security, backups, disaster recovery, and network performance
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., development, security, and operations) to ensure efficient IT operations
- Cloud Infrastructure: Gain exposure to cloud-based infrastructure services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Support cloud migration projects and manage cloud resources
- Network Configuration and Support: Assist in configuring and maintaining switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs to ensure secure and reliable connectivity
- Security and Compliance: Learn about cybersecurity frameworks and support the implementation of measures to protect IT infrastructure from threats
