Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to qualify as an Early Years Educator in a supportive and welcoming setting. We have successfully previous placed staff through this course over the past 18 months. The candidate will be predominantly in our preschool room working with an experienced team in a nurturing environment.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- To provide a safe, high-quality education and care for Pre-school children
- To fulfil legal and statutory requirements
- To contribute to and implement Pre-school policies
- To ensure that all statutory, legal, and setting obligations are followed
- To ensure the child protection policies are adhered to and the welfare of the children in the setting are protected
- To ensure that Pre-school is a safe environment
- Ability to communicate effectively face to face with parents and other professionals
- Commitment to teamwork
- Awareness and commitment to the safeguarding of children and adults
- Ability to write clear reports
- To effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interest of children in the setting are metPlan and carry out activities in line with the EYFS
- To keep records of your key children’s development and learning, looking for progression and continuity alongside the early Years Foundation Stage, and share with parents, carers, and other key adults in the child’s life
- To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories
- To advise the Safeguarding designated person / manager / deputy of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, the safety of the environment, preserving confidentiality as necessary
- To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are always maintained
- Maintain accurate records for all children e.g. registers, accidents, and incidents etc.
- Looking after the day-to-day physical needs of the children under your care to include changing nappies or toilet training
- Engaging children in a range of fun and stimulating activities, working with them to learn through play. These activities will include reading, number skills, messy play, and physical activity

At Havant & South Downs College we offer different methods of delivery either work based or day release dependent on the course. This will be discussed with you upon appointment.
