Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • To undertake a Level 2 Finance qualification as part of the apprenticeship training programme
  • To work flexibly in line with the finance team’s responsibilities.
  • To ensure an understanding and compliance with Health and Safety and risk regulations within the team.
  • To support the Finance & Payroll Officer in processing expense claims
  • Correctly coding supplier invoices to departments and nominal codes
  • To support with the Mileage tracker making sure this is kept up to date
  • To learn the process of raising ad hoc and quarterly spot purchase invoices
  • Dealing with any queries relating to spot purchases, running and re-sending reports
  • To contribute to the development of good team working and undertake other appropriate duties as may be necessary.
  • To participate in training, supervision and team meetings and undertake appropriate learning opportunities.
  • Supporting the Finance & Payroll Officer in other duties as required

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

    GCSE in:

    • Maths and English (grade 4/C or above)
