Summary
We will offer the apprentice a full practical horse handling, training and riding as well as all aspects of yard work. It will be a varied job with the apprentice working with myself and the yard manager to learn all the processes and methods we have developed over the past 15 years of owning Kingfishers Ridge.

Start 7:30am prompt, 10:00am – 10:15 morning break, 1:00pm 2:00pm Lunch, 3:00pm – 3:15pm afternoon break and then finish at 4.30pm. Times may vary dependent on the seasons and weather and a high degree of flexibility will be required.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Yard duties will include but not limited to:
- Turning out and bringing in
- Mucking out
- Feeding, watering and haying
- Grooming
- Clipping and trimming
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
- Bandaging
- Tacking up
- Lunging/long rein
- Riding/hacking
- Attending shows/events

Your training plan
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship or higher.
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.

KEITS Training Services Ltd reserves the right to close the vacancy earlier than the listed closing date should the need arise. We travel the horses for hacking and to competitions for qualifying, regional and national British Dressage championships.
About this company
Kingfishers Ridge is a mixed equine yard offering livery, schooling, producing horses for sale, dressage to PSG, covering with our own stallions and semen sales. The yard is kept very quiet where all the horses have daily turnout, and get to use the walkers, round pen, 60 x 20 arena, hot wash and solarium, and regular hacking.
