Summary
Bloomsbury’s Audio team are looking for an enthusiastic, efficient and personable candidate to start in January 2025. The role will provide support for various elements of the audio publishing process for an energetic team working across Bloomsbury’s full catalogue of titles.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Preparing, sending out and returning reader contracts
- Preparation of manuscripts ahead of recordings for actors and studios (including pronunciation preparation, text splits)
- Proof listening of audio files
- Working with the marketing and publicity departments to supply audio for reviews
- Carrying out casting research for new projects
- Administrative tasks such as filing and archiving of paperwork
Supporting the operational team with checking of audio files ahead of distribution, and troubleshooting any mothballs - Creation of in-file metadata for audiobooks, such as Table of Contents and complementary PDFs
Adding audio-specific metadata to Biblio
Title checks on publication dates across key retailers
Share audio files for each title with the editor/author/agents
Attending studio recordings on occasion

Your training plan
To meet the requirements of the Level 4 Publishing Professional apprenticeship programme you will need to spend 6 hours a week of your time undertaking off-the-job learning, which will include:
- Formal training, including online learning and internal learning events
- 1-2-1s with your coach and line manager
- Observing and shadowing colleagues
- Writing up learning reflections for your portfolio
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4-9 or A*-C)
- Maths (grade 4-9 or A*-C)
