Summary
Bloomsbury Visual Arts team are now looking for their next publishing apprentice to start in January 2025. You will provide general administrative support for various elements of the editorial process, assisting the Bloomsbury Visual Arts editorial team.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Preparing and sending out contracts
- Working on data and copyright registration
- Project Managing the publications to ensure they are on time and payments are correct
- Arranging the ordering of copies of published books
- Maintaining physical and electronic book files and records
- Supporting editorial staff using Biblio (Bibliographic database)
- Responding promptly and appropriately to external and internal inquiries
- Working on copyright (checking permissions etc)
- Preparing and scheduling scripts
- Puts together cover briefs, cover copy and briefs cover designs, where required
- Carrying out research into new projects on request of manager
- Sending emails/letters of acknowledgement and rejection
- Undertaking administrative tasks such as filing and archiving

Your training plan
To meet the requirements of the Level 4 Publishing Professional apprenticeship programme you will need to spend 6 hours a week of your time undertaking off-the-job learning, which will include:
- Formal training, including online learning and internal learning events
- 1-2-1s with your coach and line manager
- Observing and shadowing colleagues
- Writing up learning reflections for your portfolio

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4-9 or A*-C)
- Maths (grade 4-9 or A*-C)
