Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Your key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Administrative Support: provide general administrative support to various departments within the company, including maintaining records, filing documents, and handling data entry tasks
  • Customer Service: assist in addressing customer enquiries, processing orders, and resolving issues to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Inventory Management: collaborate with the logistics team to monitor inventory levels, track shipments, and assist in reconciling discrepancies
  • Logistics Coordination: support logistics coordination efforts, such as scheduling deliveries, coordinating transportation, and ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of goods
  • Data Analysis: assist in gathering and analysing data related to logistics operations, allowing the company to make informed decisions and identify areas for improvement
  • Documentation: assist in preparing and organising various logistics-related documents, including contracts, agreements, and compliance paperwork
  • Communication: maintain effective communication channels between different departments and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth logistics operations
  • Training and Development: participate in structured training programs to acquire knowledge of logistics procedures, software systems, and industry best practices

  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

    The training provider will deliver this apprenticeship in the workplace. You will have a dedicated assessor who will provide guidance and monitor progress throughout. You will have access to an online portfolio to allow you to monitor your progress and complete work.

    • Level 2 Apprenticeship in Customer Service Practitioner standard
    • Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT (unless exempt)

    • English & Maths (grade 4/C or above)
