Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

This role is part of a team encompassing data collation and analysis, Research and Development and investigation of existing and novel technologies and tasks in these other areas will be expected as well as covering for absences. 

  • Collect, collate and report data to appropriate timelines both internally and externally
  • Carry out statistical analysis of data where appropriate for example in weekly KPI presentations, Trial analyses, investigations etc.
  • Assess and improve data accuracy
  • Streamline the collation and presentation of data
  • Regularly assess who uses the data collated, and who should receive it
  • Learn the environment that Avara operates in
  • Understand the life cycle of the processes, the things that we measure and the way that we currently work
  • Understand the data that we currently gather, how it is used, the value still to be obtained and the gaps/deficiencies that exist
  • Understand and be a super user of MTech, the main data management system, and all other systems used throughout Avara Foods agriculture
  • Champion the uptake of the new version of MTech
  • Work with the ag team to understand what they need to turn data into useful information
  • Bring efficiencies to the systems
  • Automate data recording / collation and reporting
  • Turn the data into information
  • Show trends and changes
  • Introduce statistical analysis and modelling

Course contents
  • Use data systems securely to meet requirements and in line with organisational procedures and legislation including principles of Privacy by Design
  • implement the stages of the data analysis lifecycle
  • apply principles of data classification within data analysis activity
  • analyse data sets taking account of different data structures and database designs
  • assess the impact on user experience and domain context on data analysis activity
  • identify and escalate quality risks in data analysis with suggested mitigation or resolutions as appropriate
  • undertake customer requirements analysis and implement findings in data analytics planning and outputs
  • identify data sources and the risks and challenges to combination within data analysis activity
  • apply organizational architecture requirements to data analysis activities
  • apply statistical methodologies to data analysis tasks
  • apply predictive analytics in the collation and use of data
  • collaborate and communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders using appropriate styles and behaviours to suit the audience
  • use a range of analytical techniques such as data mining, time series forecasting and modelling techniques to identify and predict trends and patterns in data
  • collate and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and convert into infographics, reports, tables, dashboards and graphs
  • select and apply the most appropriate data tools to achieve the optimum outcome

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • 5 Subjects - STEM subjects would be beneficial (grade A* - C/Level 4 and above)

    Other requirements

    This role will predominately be home based with a requirement to travel to our agriculture offices in Hereford and other sites within the organisation. Applicants must have a full UK driving licence.
