We are a growing firm of accountants working with clients in many industries and sectors. We work with sole traders and partnerships to multi-million pound companies. We are a small friendly team which means we offer a wider range of experience for the right candidate. We are working towards automating the practice to reduce the "boring" stuff

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Admin - incoming post and outgoing post
  • Front of house and hospitality
  • Data entry using software to automate the process
  • Bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations
  • Value Added Tax Returns
  • Preparation of management information
  • Assist senior accountants and managers
  • Assist Tax Manager in preparing personal tax returns
  • Ongoing in-house training in accountancy
  • Ongoing in-house training in software that we use
  • Ad hoc tasks and duties

Course contents
  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Your training plan

    The successful candidate is expected to train for AAT level 3 (including bridging level 2) with Babbington Business College. This takes the form of online class based training once a week.

    There will also be in-house training to enable the candiate to fullfil their duties.

    After this apprenticeship

    The successful apprentice, can if they wish, study for the professional accountancy qualifications to level up from being a Qualified Accounting Technician to being hopefully becoming a Qualified Accountant.

    This will coincide with the successful candiate progressing through the firm.
