Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

  • Use of Accountancy Software (Sage, Xero, Quickbook)
  • Data entry
  • Analyse bank statements into cash books in excel and post on to accounts software
  • Bank reconciliation

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Your training plan

    You will be working towards your Level 2 AAT qualification (an industry recognised Qualification) which are studied on a modular basis. This means that you will study one module of the curriculum at a time, so the qualification is broken down and easier to manage than an A-Level or degree. After each module, you will sit an exam (online) to ensure you have understood. Your study of each module will be self-led and online (no college). We will provide you with an extensive portfolio of tools and resources to support your learning. Units that you will be studying include introduction to bookkeeping, ethical standards, general business, communication, bookkeeping controls, personal effectiveness, accounting systems & processes, synoptic assessment, principles of costing, and behaviours.

    Desirable qualifications

    A Level in:

    • Business, Maths, Finance, Economics (grade Pass)
