Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Checking the integrity of data to ensure processes are being followed correctly across the business
  • Liase with branch managers where appropriate
  • Administrative tasks, such as Supplier statement reconciliations, invoice input and responding to emails
  • Deal with invoice queries
  • Covering annual leave for others
  • Carrying out tasks as required by more senior members of the team

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Your training plan

    • Apprentices will attend college weekly for formal lessons, they will also be visited in the workplace by an assigned instructor-mentor who will complete observations and professional discussions and discuss progress.

    The company will provide face-to-face on-the-job training, regulatory training as required and coaching by experienced employees.

    GCSE in:

    • English (grade 4/C or above)
    • Maths (grade 4/C or above)
