Summary

Private children's day nursery operating from 8am to 6pm. We offer 15 hours funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. Meeting children's needs through their interests and teaching children to celebrate cultural differences is one of our main focus. The nursery carries out wrap around care and afterschool club.

£9,984 to £17,846.40 a year

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

To give support to staff within the setting
To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn
To effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual's needs and interests of children in the setting are met
To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents/carers to facilitate day to day caring
To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories
To be flexible within working practices of the sitting, such as domestic tasks

Course contents

Recognise when a child or a colleague is in danger or at risk of abuse and act to protect them in line with safeguarding policy and procedure.

Apply legislation, policy and procedure to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of children in the setting (for example, food safety, diets, starting solid food, allergies, COSHH, and accidents, injuries, and emergencies).

Apply the principles of risk assessment and risk management within documentation and practice.

Teach children to develop skills to manage risk and maintain their own and others safety.

Use a range of communication methods, including technology, with other professionals to meet the individual needs of the child.

Develop and maintain effective professional, collaborative relationships with others involved in the education and care of the child.

Undertake the role and responsibilities of key person.

Recognise and apply theories of attachment to develop effective relationships with children.

Provide sensitive and respectful personal care for children from birth to 5 years.

Advocate for all children’s needs, including children which require SEND or EAL support.

Promote and facilitate children’s interpersonal communication to develop their social interactions and relationships.

Support children to develop a positive sense of their own identity and culture.

Support children to understand and respond to their emotions and make considered choices about their behaviours.

Assess the responsiveness of the environment for effective child-centred experiences in line with curriculum requirements.

Create inclusive, child-centred, dynamic, innovative, and evolving physical environments both indoors and outdoors.

Create inclusive and supportive emotional environment that enables the child to feel safe, secure, respected and experience a sense of wellbeing; maintaining and prioritising the individual child’s voice.

Apply strategies that support children’s ability to manage change, transition, and significant events.

Analyse observation evidence to assess and plan holistic individual learning based on a comprehensive understanding of the child’s needs and interests.

Facilitate and support child-centred opportunities and experiences based on the setting's curriculum and pedagogy.

Provide adult led opportunities and experience based on the setting's curriculum and pedagogy.

Use reflection to develop themselves both professionally and personally.

Level 3 Early Years Educator Standards 
 
Apprentices will undertake their training within the rooms as well as having time out of the rooms to participate in seminars, continue written work and attend meetings with tutors etc. 
 
We also provide in house training to support our staff continuous professional development:

Mode of delivery:  
A mix of blended learning including day release in college, online classes and tutor workplace visits. 
 
Course content: 
The Level 3 Apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with the workplace, you will be expected to attend college/online meetings and face to face meetings with your tutor, where you will gain knowledge and understanding of working within the early years sector. You will develop skills on the job where you will be supported by a workplace mentor. An Assessor from Leeds City College will visit you on a regular basis to support your learning journey.

Functional Skills qualifications: 

Level 2 Functional Skill in English 
Level 2 Functional Skill in maths

End point assessment:
