As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

The Farmers is an award-winning pub, wine bar and restaurant located in the heart of the bustling market and festival town of Ulverston, situated opposite the market cross with views of the cobbled streets. The perfect place to begin your hospitality journey.

We are currently looking to employ Apprentices both front of house and back of house.

It would be an advantage if candidates have some knowledge of Hospitality and/or Catering but it is not essential, however, a willingness to learn whilst gaining a qualification is required.

For our front of house operation we are looking for 2 x Hospitality Team Member Apprentices to serve food and beverages to our customers, take payments, clear tables, replenish sauces etc. You will be given full training and complete a nationally recognised qualification working alongside our experienced team.

We are offering a 30-hour contact with flexible hours over a 7-day period (some late shifts may be required).

We are looking to pay the Apprentice wage £6.40 to start with but this will be reviewed every 12 weeks and will increase dependant on performance (See scale below). This job is not 9-5 but has massive rewards and developmental opportunities for the right candidate.

Scale of Apprentice Pay

First 12 week block ….…£6.40
Second 12 week block...£7.50 (dependant on satisfactory completion of first block)
Third 12 week block……£8.50 (dependant on satisfactory completion of second block)
Fourth 12 week block…£10.50 (dependant on satisfactory completion of third block)
Once qualified and selected for employment within company £12.00 per hour

You will be supported by an assessor throughout your apprenticeship.

As you progress through your apprenticeship your duties and responsibilities will alter as you develop the skills for a successful career in hospitality and catering.

Training will be a mix of face to face and online learning.

You will gain a Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship Qualification.

Functional Skills in Maths and English if required.

Other requirements

Hospitality roles can be physically demanding with prolonged periods of time on your feet. This is a full time role which will require flexibility with hours over a 7 day period (some late shifts maybe required - please check transport links). Contracted hours will be 30 pw. Candidates must be 17+ due to licensing laws. Start as soon as possible.
