Summary
This is an apprenticeship position in a busy garage servicing and repairing light vehicles under the instruction of a qualified mechanic. The successful applicant will be given full training while working on customers vehicles and gain experience on the job towards their level 3 apprenticeship qualification.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The Apprentice will be working in a busy garage on customer vehicles carrying out basic duties such as:
- Light vehicle servicing
- Removing Tyres
- Repairing punctures
- Wheel balancing
- Tyres and Brakes
- Fault Diagnosis on cars and light commercial vehicles using computer equipment and through a process of elimination
- Removal and replacement of a range of vehicle parts
- Assisting the other members of the team with more complex tasks
- Supporting the delivery of MOT Tests
- Basic servicing, including car health checks
- Steering and suspension
- Electrical fault diagnostics
- Shadowing Technicians
- Cleaning the workshop
- Moving vehicles (depending on license)
As the apprentice progresses, this will expand to cover more complex repairs and diagnosis.

Your training plan
You will be working towards your Level 3 motor vehicle service and repair technician (light vehicle) qualification.
This will be an on site delivery. The apprentice will spend 5 days per week at the garage approx 40 hours. 20% of this time will be off the job learning through virtual training and online sessions, this will be supported by assessments that will take place at the work place.
The remaining 80% will involve practical hands on work.

GCSE or equivalent in:

- Maths (grade 4)
