Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Responsibilities
- Maintain marine daily log
- Prepare job invoices
- Input, maintain and issue daily & monthly logs
- Collate timesheets and produce monthly report for wage run
- Purchase consumables and replacement equipment monthly checks/run up of yard equipment
- Liaising with Ships Agents/Customers
- Receipting deliveries/producing stores manifests/issue & return
- Issue and check work permits
- Conduct site inductions
- Maintain first aid stations and signage
- Collate fuel figures and electricity readings as required
- Report hazards, positive observations, near misses, incidents and accidents
- Ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate and cost-effective manner
- Any other reasonable management request
Full training will be given in order to complete the above duties to the best of your ability.
Williams Shipping and Boom Training will provide ongoing support and guidance throughout the apprenticeship.

Level 3 Business Administrator Standard, which includes:
- Modules covering Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours in Business
- You'll have a personal tutor to guide you through your training
- You will attend 1:1 sessions with your tutor every 2/3 weeks
- End Point Assessment (online)
- Occasional group classes with other learners
- Functional Skills Level 2 in maths & English if required
- Business Administrator Certificate from IFATE and City & Guilds
