Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Safe Handling and Operation of Equipment: Using forklifts, pallet trucks, or other machinery to move, pack, and unpack IT assets while adhering to safety standards
- Receiving and Inspecting IT Equipment: Checking incoming IT assets for damage, verifying inventory against records, and preparing assets for further processing
- Data Capture and System Updates: Using warehouse management systems and barcode scanners to log asset details and track inventory throughout the process
- Disassembly and Packaging of IT Assets: Safely dismantling equipment for recycling or refurbishment, packaging efficiently to reduce waste and ensure safe transport
- Maintaining Warehouse Cleanliness and Security: Ensuring the workspace remains organized, safe, and free from hazards, while securely handling sensitive IT equipment

- Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
- Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
- support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
- Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
- Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Your training plan
The apprentice will complete their training through a combination of hands-on experience in the warehouse and formal training with Locomotivation who is an accredited provider. Training will take place one day a week onsite via distance learning, covering key skills and allowing for completion of the qualification. Upon completion, apprentices will earn a Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative qualification, recognised industry-wide.

Other requirements
There is a possibility of working at the other site occasionally to support with operational needs - this is likely to be up to 3 times a year, for a week or 2 at a time (all expenses covered). This will allow the apprentice to see how things operate in a different site, and gain additional experience. The 2 sites are: Maldon site: 1-3 Baltic Wharf, Station Road, Maldon, Essex, CM9 4LQ. Whitefield site: 59 Stanley Road, Whitefield, Manchester, M45 8GZ
