Summary
You will work closely with dentists and other dental professionals, working as part of a team to deliver dental care. Typical tasks include greeting patients and making sure they are comfortable and safe, preparing items used for dental procedures, ensuring they are cleaned and sterilised as per guidelines and assisting in patient care.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The applicant will learn all aspects of the life within the dental practice such as: reception duties, sterilising duties, and nursing duties.
The clinical side is the most important area for the applicant and will be guided by all the trained nurses within the practice. Responsibilities will grow in time but to begin with, learning is the most important area.
We aim to help and support the applicant to complete and qualify their role in Dental Nursing.
Main duties will include:
- Reception duties and greeting clients.
- Helping to put clients at ease.
- Undertaking sterilising duties.
- Following hygiene procedures.
- Nursing duties.
- Assisting our trained dental nurses, dentist or hygienist.
- Chairside assistance including passing instruments.

For the full apprenticeship, candidates will complete:
- Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing.
For the End Point Assessment (EPA) apprentices will undertake a workplace observation, question and answer session, and a case study.
Apprentices must achieve a General Dental Council (GDC)- approved Licence to Practice qualification in Dental Nursing.
Apprentices must attend college sessions one day per week at the Ipswich Road campus, located near Norwich city centre.

Other requirements
Candidates should have at least GCSE grade 4/ C in English and Maths, or the Level 2 Functional Skills equivalent before they join the apprenticeship. Applicants who are currently undertaking or sitting GCSEs should include their predicted grades on their application. If successful for this position, you will be offered a conditional place on the apprenticeship, subject to you meeting the entry requirements listed above. This is an indoor varied role and time will be split between supporting the dentist and nurses, using the computer, cleaning tasks and ordering stock. You will receive 4 weeks of annual leave and a uniform will be provided free of charge. You'll receive a company pension. We have free parking available on-site but we are also within walking distance from Diss train and bus stations.
