Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Receiving, documenting, and organising parts into bins and on shelves
- Processing orders for customers and finding alternate resources is a job requirement
- Keeping parts in stock and well organized for easy access by the staff for customer requests
- Completing relevant paperwork
- Checking for damaged/missing items

- Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
- Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
- Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
- Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
- Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
- Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
- Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
- Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
- support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
- Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
- Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.

Your training plan
You will have a dedicated assessor that will attend your workplace to support and carry out your training throughout the apprenticeship. You will be spending 20% of your working hours (based on the number of contracted hours over the period of the apprenticeship, minus up to annual leave days) to support knowledge, skills, and behaviours. The 20% off-the-job can be used for the following areas:
- Theory (knowledge) – such as classroom learning, workshops, lectures, role playing, online learning, simulation exercises or relevant employer training, 1-2-1 training and coaching
- Practical training (skills and behaviours) apprentices would not usually do during the week – such as shadowing, relevant new skills training, mentoring, coaching, conferences, events, meetings, industry visits or competitions
- Learning support and time spent writing assignments and completing projects in line with their apprenticeship
Maths and English (also ICT if required) do not contribute to the 20% off-the-job, time will be required in addition to the 20% to support training and achievement in maths and English (if required).

GCSE in:
- English & Maths (grade 4/C or above)
