Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Learning all aspects of painting and decorating whilst working on domestic and commercial projects
- Be totally committed to achieving a high level of client satisfaction through the quality of the end result Increasing your skills and knowledge of different materials, tools and techniques throughout duration of the apprenticeship and ensuring their use in a safe and professional manner as part of a safe working environment to ensure you are not a risk to yourself, colleagues or members of the public
- Assisting colleagues to ensure timely and quality project outcomes
- Ensuring at all times that the project is carried out and maintained with the utmost care, tidiness and housekeeping and ultimate respect for the client’s property and projects vision
- Tools equipment and resources are vital to successful outcomes and as such should be respected, maintained, cleaned and stored as requested

Desirable qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in:
- Maths and English (grade 4)

Other requirements
This role will involve some outside work and a lot of manual work. The candidate will be covering Ipswich/East Anglia areas. The potential apprentice will therefore either need to hold a drivers licence due to limited public transport or need to be able to get to Ipswich by car share.

Cubitt Theobald is an Employee owned and managed building and joinery company which was established in 1903. We carry out refurbishment, restoration, extension and repair projects in Suffolk and throughout East Anglia. We also design and hand make kitchens and bespoke cabinetry in our own workshops.
After this apprenticeship
When the apprenticeship has been completed with a minimum of a pass level, there will be a permanent job role available, and the earnings will be uplifted to the rate of a qualified painter and decorator within the company.
