As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Financial Adviser to join a busy team within Seeker Financial Planning Ltd who are a highly successful Appointed Representative of St. James’s Place Wealth Management Plc.  

The practice has been born out of its sister company – Mortgage Advice Bureau (and still shares office with MAB). MAB found after 25 years of helping 1000’s of customers with their mortgages they also needed help with their pensions and investments too, and therefore we created Seeker Financial Planning so we could fully cover all our customers' financial needs. We can see huge potential growth for the business and for our early employees who join us on this journey.   • As part of a growing advisory team, you will support and shadow our Adviser team to help them provide sound, holistic, compliant financial advice to high net worth (HNW) individuals and businesses covering investments, protection, pensions, tax and trust planning
  • You will provide efficient administrative support to the advisors within the practice in respect of the business generated and the servicing of existing clients
  • Researching products, investment strategies and financial planning solution
  • Completing tax calculations
  • Preparing financial planning and recommendation reports for client meetings, including provision of a high level of technical support
  • You will need to ensure that the business obtained is being processed compliantly and in a timely manner involving work with internal processing systems
  • Once qualified you will not be expected to bring clients along with you as you will be allocated a professional client base which will allow you to develop and grow your sector, however, you will be expected to develop and manage long-term professional relationships so you will need to have a good appetite for marketing and networking, making sure that you make the most out of referrals that you are given

Course contents
  • Know your customer: Make decisions confidently and autonomously in full awareness of the risk/potential external implications attached. Know when to seek further professional input, whilst maintaining high ethical standards and adhering to Treating Customers Fairly requirements.
  • Customer service: Proactively and regularly meet the company’s stated service/quality assurance standards, including complaints procedures.
  • Customer service: Consistently support colleagues and collaborate to achieve a successful customer outcome.
  • Business development: Develop long term relationships with customers. Create new opportunities for business growth through referrals and networking. Build a new business or sustain and grow an existing business by prioritising workloads and deliver in accordance with the associated business plan.
  • Managing Risk: Apply regulatory requirements both in the role of a Financial Adviser and also as applied to the Company. Maintain, the Fit and Proper person standards as laid down by the relevant regulator(s).
  • Using systems and processes: Demonstrate technical proficiency in using the firm’s I.T. systems required to complete the advice process, maintain accurate records, and agree review meetings to sustain the client / adviser relationship. Ensure Data Protection Act is not contravened.
  • Communication skills: Build rapport and communicate with empathy. Present and explain complex information simply and clearly both orally and verbally.

    Essential qualifications

    GCSE in:

    • English (grade 4)
    • Maths (grade 4)

    Other requirements

    • Salary from £18,000 – £25,000 depending on experience and qualifications. • Following completion of the apprenticeship, gaining all qualifications and completion of our own internal Adviser Academy you will qualify to be a full financial adviser with us, and we will start to provide you with qualified client appointments to advise from our large client bank. • You will then qualify for our salary scale (based on performance) and Commission on al business banked (realistic initial OTE £35-50k, rising to £50-100k as your client bank builds)
