An exciting opportunity to work for Sico, a leading, well established Engineering Manufacturing company based in Lympne Industrial Estate near Hythe. Your role as an Engineering Operator will be learning all aspects of manufacturing the products, including machining, mechatronics, welding and fabricating.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you’ll do at work

Engineering Operators are tasked with several responsibilities that are essential for the successful operation of the production floor. These include:

  • Setting up, operating, and maintaining machinery and production lines
  • Monitoring equipment for functionality, performing adjustments, and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime
  • Ensuring that all safety protocols and operational procedures are followed
  • Inspecting finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications
  • Maintaining accurate records of production quantities and times, equipment status, and issues encountered
  • Collaborating with other team members and departments to optimize production efficiency and quality

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
